Use the connection details shown for your mailbox rather than guessing from another host’s guide. The correct hostname must match the mail server’s TLS certificate.

Configure the account

  1. Open Email Accounts and select Connect Devices or the available client-setup option.
  2. Record the secure incoming and outgoing settings and the required username format.
  3. Choose IMAP when you want messages synchronised across devices. Understand the retention implications before choosing POP.
  4. Enter the server names, ports and encryption modes exactly as provided. Enable outgoing authentication where required.
  5. Send a non-sensitive external test and confirm a reply arrives. Check Sent and other folders on each device.

If authentication fails

Confirm the full email address, current mailbox password and outgoing username. A cPanel login password may not be the mailbox password. Check whether a saved old password is being retried on another device.

Do not accept a certificate warning as a normal setup step. Ask support for the correct hostname. Avoid unencrypted connections on public networks, and protect devices with a screen lock. If a device is lost, arrange credential changes and session review promptly. Deleting an account from an app does not always delete its local downloaded data.
